Urgent Medication Requests

To obtain medication urgently contact the surgery by the above methods stating that it is an urgent request. You will then be asked to collect the prescription from the surgery at 17:00. You will then need to take it to pharmacy for dispensing.

Delivery Service

A delivery service for repeat prescriptions operates to Skirlaugh Post Office, Brandesburton Post Office, Skipsea Post Office and North Frodingham Cherry’s Garage. Please ask our Care Navigators each time you order your prescription if you wish to use this service, otherwise we will assume that you will collect your prescription from the surgery or pharmacy. We also operate a home delivery service every week day between 13:00 - 15:00; someone must be in to receive the delivery.

If you are exempt from paying for your prescription, please advise the receptionist each time you place your order.

In line with national policy, we only prescribe one month’s supply of medication at a time, with the exception of the contraceptive pill and hormone replacement therapy (3 months).

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Pharmacy/Dispensing

Mr David Buckley is our Pharmacy Manager and is available for advice during office hours on 01964 544006.

Under NHS regulations we are allowed to dispense medicines for patients who live more than a mile from a chemist. Prescription charges are payable on collection of medication.

If you are exempt from these charges you are (by law) required to show proof of exemption. This is not at our discretion.

Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.65
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
  • 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
