Appointments System

The practice operates an appointment system for both morning and evening surgeries. Please telephone for an appointment or book on line  via this link, before you attend the surgery:

  • 01964-542155 for Leven
  • 01262-488234 for Beeford

Please note appointments can be booked up to 14 days in advance.

We have asked our Care Navigators to ask you questions to ensure they can signpost you to the most appropriate healthcare professional.

All of the staff have had both internal and external training in Care Navigation.  They have also signed confidentiality agreements and follow the Data Protection Act 2018, in the same way as all staff employed at the practice.

The length of time allocated for your appointment is 15 min so the doctor will only be able to deal with 1 or 2 problems at a time. If you feel that you may need a longer appointment please ask the Care Navigator.

Children under 14 years of age should be accompanied by an adult. Please book a separate appointment for each member of the family.

We do make provision for medical emergencies when an appointment is requested on the same day. This may entail waiting but do inform the Care Navigator if you feel too unwell to wait. These consultations are for urgent problems only and the doctor will not have time to discuss routine matters.

Practice Nurses

Our practice nurses run clinics from 08:40 - 11.30 and 15:00 - 17:30, both at Leven and at Beeford, by appointment. They can give advice about many matters, including dressings, immunisations and foreign travel injections etc.

Trained and highly skilled nurses run our specialist clinics in Coronary Heart Disease, Strokes, Asthma, Diabetes and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Cervical smears/well woman checks and family planning checks can be done by a nurse. Please tell the Care Navigator when making an appointment that it is for a smear test. Similarly, well man checks or blood pressure checks are also available. Please ask at reception for further details.

Telephone Consultations

If you feel your problem could be dealt with over the telephone rather than by attending the surgery you can book a telephone consultation.

Home Visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10:30.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. They will telephone you first to discuss this with you.  Lack of transport is not considered an adequate reason for a home visit. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

Aged 75 years or over?

Named GP

All GP Practices in the UK are required to provide all their patents aged 75 and over with a named GP who will have overall responsibility for the care and support that our surgery provides to them.

You will be informed of your named GP within 20 days of being registered at the practice (this could be moe than 20 days after handing forms into the practice). Whilst this GP will have overall responsibility for the care and support provided by the surgery, you are entitled to see any GP in the Practice.

Free NHS Health Check

You are also eligible for a free NHS health check with a Practice Nurse or Health Care Assistant.

The NHS health check is a new initiative to improve overall health and well being in the community. Its aim is to improve the care and support given to the over 75's population. Leven & Beeford medical practice is very supportive of the scheme and will provide health checks to improve early diagnosis and health screening.

Please make an appointment to attend the surgery to see our Practice Nurse or Health Care Assistant.  They will provide assessment and screening of your health and social care issues based on questions and measurements. Following this you will receive personalised advise and if needed, an onward referral or signposting to appropriate support services.
