Advanced Nurse Practitioners
Our Advanced Nurse Practitioners are highly trained and are able to assess, diagnose, manage, care and prescribe for patients. They are also able to refer patients using the same criteria the GPs use.
Nurses
Our practice nurses run clinics from 08.40 – 11.30 and 15.00 – 17.30, both at Leven and at Beeford, by appointment. Leven also offer Nurse and phlebotomy appointments on a Thursday evening up to 8.00pm. The nursing team can give advice about many matters, including dressings, immunisations and foreign travel injections etc. Trained and highly skilled nurses run our specialist clinics in Coronary Heart Disease, Strokes, Asthma, Diabetes and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Cervical smears/well woman checks and family planning checks can be done by a nurse. Please tell the receptionist when making an appointment that it is for a smear test. Similarly, well man checks or blood pressure checks are also available. Please ask at reception for further details.
Healthcare Assistants
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
Practice Management
- TERRI WARDELL
Business Manager
The Business Manager is involved in the overall management of the business aspects of the practice, such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The business manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.
Administration
The admin team are a very important part of the practice, undertaking various aspects of office duties. This includes summarising patients medical records, photocopying records for solicitors requests and scanning hospital letters onto the computer.
Care Navigators
Care Navigators provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Care Navigators make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries and dealing with patient records.
Secretaries
The practice secretaries are responsible for making referrals to the hospital and other community services on the instructions of a clinician. They have to work in an accurate and timely manner to ensure that the referrals are acted on as soon as possible. They can also help patients with their hospital appointments rather than seeing the GP.
Health Visitors
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing. For advice on family health contact 01482 259600.
